PUG Awards 2013 Winner
CORE Architects Toronto has been named the winner in the PUG Awards 2013
CORE Architects has been selected as the winner of the People’s Choice Residential category for our project Five Hundred Wellington West developed by FREED. For the first time, a residential condo outscores all other buildings. Six50 King, also developed by FREED, received an honourable mention, and Flat Iron lofts by Lamb Developments placed fourth. CORE’s three entries achieved the four highest scores for residential design.
The Pug Awards began as a modest initiative that raised awareness of architectural and design issues among Torontonians. Since their inception, the Pugs have evolved into a major event that annually recognizes the contributions Toronto’s development community has made to the urban landscape. By registering their opinion on recently completed residential, commercial, and institutional developments, the public can contribute to the conversation and ensure their voice is heard by helping elevate architectural and planning standards across the city.
By voting, citizens hold developers, architects, and designers accountable for the city’s newly constructed environments. The public can vote on whether they “love”, “like,” or “hate” new developments. New this year, voters can follow the Pug Awards online through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
These awards join those that CORE previously won in 2011 and 2008.
