CORE chosen to design M City Phase 2 Tower
Phase 2 tower to be paired with the design of the first tower.
CORE Architects has been chosen by Rogers Real Estate Development Limited and Urban Capital Property Group to design the second tower in the newly announced M City in Mississauga after our successful execution of the first iconic design. The Eastern gateway to Mississauga features the acclaimed Marilyn towers. The western gateway will now be defined by the towers of M City Phase 1 and 2. The intent is to create an equally iconic design but one that is dramatically differentiated in appearance to its easterly counterpart.
The tower for Phase 2 is envisioned as being an identical twin to the tower of phase 1. Rather than introducing a new material palette and geometry for the phase 2 tower, we simply rotated the existing design 90 degrees. By doing this, when one views the two buildings from any angle the short end of one tower and the long end of the other will always be visible at the same time. This approach is deliberately different from the ‘similar but different’ twinning strategy exhibited by the Absolute towers at the eastern gateway to Mississauga’s downtown. The new tower will be 197 meters in height and feature 61 storeys. The ground floor podium will accommodate retail at grade and townhomes along Webb Drive and Confederation Parkway. An amenity terrace on level four along with a green roof on level seven will provide generous outdoor environments. Learn more.
